Goal Achieved, Fall Grads’ Path to 毕业典礼
At fall commencement ceremonies this past weekend approximately 765 students walked across the graduation stage. This class continues the trend of UNC being home to an increasingly diverse student population. Excitingly, this fall saw the largest number of graduates from the Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business in the past five years.
研究生s come from 12 countries, 48 states 和 36 Colorado counties with the youngest graduate 20 years old 和 the oldest 60 years old. Meet seven of UNC's fall 2023 graduates who shared stories about their time on campus with us below.
Inspired to Change Lives, the Longs Designed the Way
帕特里夏·朗,M.A. ’76, moved to Colorado soon after graduating with her undergraduate 学位. When she began teaching, she felt prepared, but she soon learned that there was more to being an educator than meets the eye. Providing for students who had special needs was something she felt entirely unprepared for.
UNC’s Special Education masters program is what brought Long into the Bear Network, but it’s UNC’s commitment to supporting all students that keeps Long engaged. 指导 children from underrepresented backgrounds through middle 和 high 学校 opened Patricia Long 和 her husb和 James’s eyes to the need for better representation in classrooms 和 the impact of financial support at all points in a student’s education.
Hosting the First No Limits Camp, 和 More
In this fall’s edition of UNC杂志there’s a lot to celebrate.
This summer, Coach Lamb hosted the first No Limits camp, providing a platform for individuals with intellectual 和 physical disabilities to engage with UNC student-athletes 一天. Students from the College of Performing 和 Visual 艺术 traveled the globe to showcase their talents, gaining valuable experience along the way.
Just this fall, UNC was given its largest-ever gift by the Weld County Trust to build the College of Osteopathic Medicine. This gift ensures that the university will continue graduating workforce ready 校友. Powered by actual career data from graduates, the different fields 和 locations 校友 are working in can now be easily analyzed to help prospective 和 current students decide what to study 和 consider careers for post-grad.
